Nowadays, technological progress is developing very rapidly. All disciplines are competing to innovate for the sake of humanity’s survival. Researchers who carry out renewal are also required to provide guarantees for the social life of humanity. For this reason, innovation must also be accompanied by providing social, environmental and financial value. This became the main objective of the holding of the 3rd International Conference on Sustainable Innovation (ICoSI) of the Muhammadiyah University of Yogyakarta. This was the main objective of the holding of the 3rd International Conference on Sustainable Innovation (ICoSI) of the Muhammadiyah University of Yogyakarta.
To realize the goals of ICOSI 2019, the Islamic Political-Political Science Doctoral Program delegated students to participate at the conference. Ajeng Puspa Marlinda, a political Islam-political science student, was one of the presenters at the Focal Conference: International Symposium on Social Sciences, Humanities, Education, and Religious Studies (ISHERSs).
Ajeng presented his paper entitled “The Implementation of Halal Tourism Policies in South Korea (2014-2018)”. He revealed the halal tourism policy in South Korea began with halal food in 2014, and then halal tourism was intensified in 2016. This policy can be said to be quite successful. This is evidenced by the increasing number of Muslim-friendly facilities such as mosques, prayer rooms, Islamic centres, and halal restaurants and positive responses from Muslim tourists about Korean tourism.
The positive impact obtained by South Korea on this policy is an increase in South Korea’s ranking as a Muslim-friendly country according to the Global Muslim Travel Index, an increasing number of Muslim tourists coming to South Korea, and increased cooperation between South Korea and Muslim countries, such as Indonesia and Brunei Darussalam.
The 3rd ICoSI, which will be held until Wednesday (7/31) was participated by 925 participants from 15 countries and discussed three main areas namely; technology, social humanity and education, and health and nursing. The field was explored in nine focus conferences, namely ISHERSs (International Symposium on Social Sciences, Humanities, Education, and Religious Studies); ICIEFI (International Conference of Islamic Economic and Financial Inclusion); ICISDe (International Conference on Islamic Studies in the Digital Era) ICoSA (International Conference on Sustainable Agriculture); ISCEIE (International Symposium of Civil, Environmental, and Infrastructure Engineering); ICONURS (International Conference on Nursing); ICoELTICs (International Conference of English Language Teaching, Literature & Linguistics); ISETH (International Symposium of Engineering, Technology, and Health Sciences); ASIAN-Col (ASIAN Conference on Comparative Laws)
