Yogyakarta, on Monday July 23, 2018 the close defense for Suparto Iribaram, a student of Political Islam titled “The Representation of Muslims in the Bureaucracy in government of Jayapura city” was conducted. The close defense was in Study Hall, 1st Floor of Graduate Building, Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta.
Suparto explained that involvement of Muslims in the administrative bureaucracy of Jayapura City is still minimal which is characterized by few officials from Muslim circles. Official recruitment is based more on primordial ties, especially ethnics and religions. This can be seen from the composition of existing officials. In addition to ethnic issues, religion also gives influence to the determination of officials in the bureaucracy of Jayapura City. This can be found in the composition of non-Muslim majority officials, even none of the Papuan Muslims.
The Assessors/Examiners are Dr. Mega Hidayati, M.A (Chairman), Prof. Dr. Irwan Abdullah, M.A (Promoter / Examiner I), Dr. Ulung Pribadi, M.Si (Co-promoter I / Examiner II), Dr. Hasse J., M.A (Co-promoter II / Examiner III), Prof. Dr. Achmad Nurmandi, M.Sc (Examiner IV), Prof. Dr. Bambang Cipto, M.A (Examiner V) and Dr. Sidik Jatmika, M.Si (Examiner VI).
After considering the answers of the Assessor Team’s questions and objections, the assessors/examiners agreed Suparto Iribaram to join opened defense by revision. Suparto Iribaram was required to improve his dissertation as the Assessors/examiners Team’s advice, input, and direction.
