Today the dissemination of information is not only through print media such as newspapers, tabloids or magazines but has penetrated online media. Some online social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram can be used as a means of delivering information. The development of knowledge in social media can be analyzed as data for research purposes.
To utilize information as research data, the Islamic-Political Science Political Doctoral Program held a Workshop on “Social Network Analysis” on Saturday (6/10) in the Postgraduate Islamic Political Science-Political Science Study Room Meeting Room. 1, Kasman Singodimedjo Building, UMY Integrated Campus. This activity presented speakers from the UMY Cooperation Institute, Agus Tiyara, S.IP., and was attended by several Islamic political lecturers and students.
Agus Tiyara delivered applications such as NodeXL, Gephi and NVivo can be used to analyze information on social media. Information on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram platforms can be retrieved via Netlytic, which can then be processed in Gephi and NodeXL. Meanwhile, NVivo can be used to input data in the form of text, audio, video, and images.
Besides delivering the material, Agus Tiyara also gave a tutorial on using the data processing application. He gave an example of taking information on Facebook through Netlytic, which then entered the data and processed it in the Gephi application. In the future, this workshop activity can be carried out continuously.
