Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta once again held its third period of the Graduation Ceremony of the Vocational, Undergraduate and Postgraduate Studies Academic Year 2019/2020 Program, Wednesday (11/03). In the ceremony that was held at the UMY Sportorium building, UMY graduated 845 graduates.
In this 3rd Graduation Ceremony, the best graduate degree for S-1 level was achieved by Lina Marlina from the Agribusiness Study Program with a GPA of 3.97 and for the Masters level, it was achieved by Muhammad Habibi from the Government Studies Program with a GPA of 4.00. Meanwhile, the fastest graduate achievement was won by Resa Ulfah Pertiwi from Accounting Study Program with a study period of 3 years, 3 months, and 2 days. The youngest graduate award was won by M. Risky Fauzi from the Islamic Education Study Program who obtained his bachelor’s degree at the age of 20 years, 1 month and 9 days.
UMY Rector Dr. Ir. Gunawan Budiyanto., M.P., IPM conveyed his pride towards the graduates in his speech. In addition, Gunawan also expressed his gratitude to the graduates. “Thank you for the trust that has been given to Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta, without you UMY does not mean anything,” he said.
Next, Gunawan implored the graduates to be ready to face new challenges in the real world. “This is the beginning of your struggle. Hopefully, Allah will always guide you in living your life wherever you are, and hopefully, by giving the muhsaf of the Koran at the graduation ceremony, it can be a reminder that the Koran is actually a lamp that gives light to life,” he stated.
As the representative of the graduates, Adra Sari from the Economics Study Program delivered her remarks. She expressed her gratitude for being able to achieve and gain a lot of knowledge and experience while being a student at UMY. In line with what was conveyed by the UMY Rector, Adra reminded her fellow graduates to prepare themselves to face the new world. “This title is a new responsibility and mandate that we must be proud of. Let us maintain the spirit of learning and keep trying to become a better person,” she said. (ays)
